Hi there, Happy Wednesday!
I hope itâs not too early for some Halloween inspiration đđ€! This year, like Iâve been doing for the past years, Iâll be preparing this spooky snack board packed with vegan spreads and dips, seasonal fresh fruits, veggies, dried fruits, and, of course, some sweet treats, too!
Last year, we were in Malaysia and didnât get to celebrate Halloween much, but now, back at home, weâll be joining some friends for trick-or-treating and food.
A snack board is the perfect addition to your Halloween table. You can customize it with different ingredients and dips and decorate it to your taste. I try to avoid buying plastic things, so my decoration for the snack boards is quite simple; for this one, I grabbed some spiders my kids had around, but you can use whatever you have around or get creative with the ingredients youâre using!
Whatâs in this Vegan Halloween Board?
Blackberry marmalade
This year, I plan to make the same dips; maybe Iâll add something with butternut squash. Some other ideas you can add to your board are tomato chutney, nut butter, or red pesto.
Fresh fruits and veggies.
Pack your board with seasonal fruit and veggies. For Halloween, you can get cherry tomatoes, red peppers, pomegranates, carrots, celery sticks, grapes, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, tangerines (you can decorate them like small pumpkins using a small celery stick), and apple slices. Dark fruits, such as grapes, blueberries, or dates, are a great addition to the Halloween colors.
Dried fruits and nuts.
Dried fruits and nuts make for a healthy addition to your board. For Halloween, you can get many dried fruits that follow the Halloween-themed colors: mango, apricots, raisins, plums, dates, or cranberries.
For nuts, I just got diagnosed with Hazelnut and Almond allergy, so Iâll be using a mixture of other nuts such as pistachio, walnuts, macadamia nuts, or cashews. You can totally keep the board nut-free.
Don't forget to add some of your favorite olives; they make a great addition to the board.
Vegan Cheese.
Totally optional, and as you can see, my original plate didnât have any cheese, but this year, Iâll try to find some nice vegan cheese to add to the board.
Crackers
The best platters are served with a wide variety of crackers, or salty snacks. You'll need a few different types of crackers to make your board just perfect. Our favorite ones for this platter are mini pretzels or pretzel sticks. Halloween is quite close to the Christmas season, so you can already buy some festive crackers in your local supermarkets that can be used for your Halloween appetizer.
Also, you may find some Halloween-themed crisps or chips. I found this purple tortillas in Aldi that to my surprise were also healthy, so Iâll be including them to this yearâs board.
Once you decide what to add to your board, you can get creative with your decorations and setup. I would like to add the spreads first to see the space I have left. Then, start filling up the empty spots with colorful ingredients.
I love making this type of board. I think it is a fun snack to prepare for a crowd, and you can make something simple look stunning!
Let me know in the comments what you will be preparing this Halloween and, if youâre making a snack board, what you are adding to it. Iâll be happy to get some more inspiration! đ»
